High profiled Comedian of the Federal republic of Nigeria, Comedian KO Baba in the early hours of today (January 10, 2017) took to his social media space to fire shots at Nigerian Radio stations and in fact these shots were explicitly directed to the OAPs. According to him, musicians are not supposed to be charged for airplay.
“Radio stations knows they should be making money from commercials, paid programs and specified sponsorship, then attract, sustain and improving their listening audience with music and quality presentation. They ask musicians money for their music, if you don’t pay they won’t play for you simply because you are coming up and trying to build a career…..very wrong. They will start slamming hits from A-list musicians who received help from another platform to make the break.
See ehnnnn, its your wish to give freewill, that will help you enjoy support, but not forced to pay to get your songs played on radio. As an entertainer, I do alot of freewill, some weeks for me is about sharing money, airtime and gifts. If musicians in Port Harcourt must grow, radio stations must support them and stop all this yeye negative billing.”
