I have come to understand that there are different levels of fame in every industry.
- Family and Friend Fame: This is the first popularity a person attains in his/her career. That which you’re good in is first discovered and appreciated by ones family members and friends.
Place of Work Fame: Away from home, ones skill/talent is easily spotted at his/her place of work. The quicker they appreciate you, the more you look like an Idol to your colleagues.
Street Fame: As your family and friends boast about a star they’ve got in you, people in your immediate street starts observing; they’ll believe you really are what they heard when they see you do that which they heard. You must impress the street before they value you.
Area Fame: From your street, other streets gradually begin to hear your news. When a couple of streets identifies you as the star they heard about then know that you’ve been able to attain area fame. This is the beginning of commercial fame. It is characterized by a person being known somewhere within a city (eg. Diobu) and not known in the other places (eg. Borokiri, Elekahia, Rumuokoro, Orazi etc.)
City/State Fame: As one’s popularity grows, you’ll discover that you’re known statewide, known across the city and in the major areas within the city and cities within the state. Then you can say you’ve attained this level of fame.
National Fame: One who makes it to the top of the city/state level has every tendency of getting to this level provided he/she is able to overcome the distractions associated with Fame. Here one has broken out from the city/state level of fame and now known nationwide.
International Fame: This is the peak of human fame, except you want to be popular among aliens 😂 then you can head for the inter-planetary fame 😂😂 (just kidding).
International Fame is the dream of every industry player. Here you’re known and have fans in various countries and your materials are being patronized globally.
After analyzing these 7 levels of fame you’ll understand and see how much work and obstacles there can be to break through all these stages.
Some quit even at the Family and Friends Level. Take the music industry for instance.
To reach the top of the chart it only takes grace, hardwork, consistency and uniqueness. No two persons have the same level of grace.
