It’s no news that residents of Port Harcourt and it’s environs have for some time been lamenting over deterioration of the environment caused by illegal refinement of crude oil products.
One of the adverse effects of the hazardous activity mentioned above is depletion of proper breathing air. Soot, one of the major topics of concerned residents.
According to reports the air around the region has been contaminated with with harmful hydrocarbons in form if soot and that has caused a lot of breathing problems in the last few years.
In a bid to curtail this, the Nigeria Civil Defense has been on invasion spree to hideouts where illegal oil bunkering are done.
Embedded in this post is a video of one of the numerous successful invasions carried out by Nigeria Civil Defense officers, but in the end their mode of disposing these confiscated crude products is appalling. Crude oil products disposed in our waterways. 😥
Could it be tied to ignorance or misinformation? Because what I saw in the video below is aptly termed “Fighting AGAINST that which you’re fighting FOR ”
